Local Food

Joe G. grew up in Calabria, a region in Southern Italy. He recalls with fondness climbing to the top of the mountain he lived on and digging up potatoes to bring them down to the market by donkey.

Although he no longer uses donkeys, he brings the same old-style charm, grace and hard work to his business. He scoffs at the plants sold by Home Depot just as he scoffed at previous large competitors such as Woolworth's (Remember them?)

Today, we have no idea where much of the food we eat comes from or how it is prepared. More and more people are beginning to question the sources of their food. We have these concerns as well and want to join in the conversation and to share information about how we can ensure we are all eating healthy food.

A movie about food:

Food Inc.

We at Joe G. Nursery are not poised to become the supplier of all of your food nor do we want to be. We do not have the same wall street mentality that is causing serious problems for this country. We simply want to help our customers who are interested in growing some food in their backyard gardens.

Please stop in and have a conversation!
